Hi!

On Wednesday, Ken McIntyre, Wally Borschel, Howard Wiggins and I met up with Wil Brennan of the Forest Service at Penny Pines.  We brushed south about .5 mile to connect up with some earlier work we had done in the area north from the Storm Canyon overlook.  Sorry, no pics from this outing but the trail looks great and I expect the through hikers will appreciate the effort.
On Sunday, K-Mac and I led a hard working crew of Andi Ramer, Don Ramer, John Vanderpot and Cris Francisco out...

Another fantastic group of volunteers meet up with me at Cuyamaca Rancho State Park on a beautiful, crisp sunny morning.  Ken McIntyre came early to pull power equipment for us while everyone assembled down in the picnic area.  This included gawking for a few moments at a deer carcass (presumably roadkill) that the vultures had been working on.  We then carpooled up Peak Road to park near the intersection with the Westside Trail.  See the nice photo of our group, including the Campos C...

Early on Wednesday the 17th, Howard Wiggins, Dave Capron, Ken McIntyre and myself met up with John Sproule at Paso Picacho toolyard (after Mac and I had, even earlier that day, stashed a vehicle at the junction of Fern Flat fire road and the West Mesa trail).  We drove up to Cuyamaca Peak where we discovered that the wet cloud conditions and high winds overnight had left the trees covered in exotic ice drapery.  See attached photos.  In some places, the ice was feathered on branches in...
